Helping the People in the Horn of Africa

EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR HORN OF AFRICA BY CATHOLIC BISHOPS CONFERENCE / CARITAS SOUTH AFRICA

Famine and drought are ravaging the Horn of Africa and millions of people in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya are in desperate need of help.

Caritas and other organizations are providing food, shelter, medical assistance and supplies but depend on the international community for financial support to continue to respond to the desperate plight of these people.

The Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference has contributed R 250,000—00 through Siyabhabha Trust-Caritas South Africa to alleviate the suffering of the people in the Horn of Africa, but much more is needed.

We invite individuals, communities and parishes to add to this donation so that the lives of women, men and children may be saved.

We are grateful to the people of Southern Africa for their generosity in the past and are confident that despite the current economic climate, this will continue.
